BONCers cut a re-route of the popular Bullard's Bar Trail. |
BONC organizes regular trail building and improvement projects in Nevada County and adjacent areas. Participating in such trail projects is a great way to meet other cyclists and trail users, so come and join us!
BONC has adopted trails near Grouse Ridge, Bullard's Bar and Forest City and worked on many others. We seek to create environmentally sustainable trails for all users to enjoy.

Malakoff Diggins, Sunday, 5/7 - This event was sponsored by Fox Racing Shox. We roughed in a whole new top section of the Slaughterhouse Trail near where the Rim Trail ends above town. Once complete, this will mark the opening of this trail to bikes for the first time after many years of effort… yet another big milestone for BONC! Pictures here.
- Round Mountain, 10/05 -
15 BONCers showed up to improve trails on Round Mountain on October 16th. This outstanding effort was just the beginning of our plans to improve the environmental sustainability of trails in the area. Highlights included: installing drains on the Flume Trail, elevating the Flume Trail at a water crossing, beer, PB&J and Jimmy's home made cake. Hope you can join us next time! See pictures here.
- Skillman/Pioneer Trail, 5/7/05 - We joined our friends with the Gold Country Trails Council to work on the Pioneer Trail and other trails near Skillman. We helped improve some trails then enjoyed a bar-b-q!
- Empire Mine, 5/1/05 - We had another productive day of trailwork yesterday on the Empire-to-Memorial Park Trail. With a turnout of over 20-25 volunteers, we prepared the trail for mechanized equipment that will soon blaze the trailbed. Later this year, we be able ride this important connector to the Mine and in some point in the future, this trail will extend all the way to Brunswick Basin. Such local trails are super important; thank you Nevada County Land Trust! For a map of this new trail, go to page 4 of this document (Adobe Reader required).
- Bullard's Bar, 3/6/05 - We had a great turnout and accomplished a lot! We took out a large number of downed limbs and trees, finished two completed re-routes, rock armored a soft section of trail, hung a bunch of BONC signs and had a great time doing all of it. We were joined by USFS staff, a hiker and a FATRACer. Thank you to everyone who showed up! Also, a big thanks to CLIF Bar for donating delicious CLIF bars for the event.
- South Yuba and Round Mountain Trail Day, 1/30/05- Last Sunday, about twenty volunteers joined the BONC-led trailwork on the South Yuba and Round Mountain Trails. Our fantastic volunteers took out downed trees, did extensive bench work on the trails, completed sizable rock repairs on the South Yuba Trail, trimmed overgrowth from R. Mountain trailhead > Purdon and hung trailwork and rules-of-the-trail signs. Additionally, we flagged a very plausible route for the bottom half of the Diamond Arrow Trail. Thank you to Tour of Nevada City and the Weir family for supporting this effort.
- Hallelujah Trail Day & BBQ, 8/22/04 - With a large turnout, we worked with our friends with the Gold Country Trails Council, the NU mountain bike team and the Forest Service on the Hallelujah Trail and enjoyed food and drink thereafter. We made huge progress and terrific improvements to this great trail.
- Burlington/Skillman Trail Day & BBQ, 5/15/04 - We worked with our friends with the Gold Country Trails Council in the Burlington/Skillman area and enjoyed a BBQ thereafter.
- Bullard's Bar Trailwork Day, Saturday, 3/20/04 - We re-routed a badly eroding section of trail, braving poison oak and ticks.
- Round Mountain and South Yuba Trails, 1/25/04 - We worked on the Round Mountain South Yuba Trails, solving erosion problems and trimming back overgrowth. A great day!
- IMBA Trail Care Crew, 11/8/03 - With the help of the IMBA Trail Care Crew, we improved the South Yuba Connector trail between the South Yuba Campground and North Bloomfield Road near Edwards Crossing. Thanks to sponsors Subaru, IMBA, BLM, USFS and the Nevada County Land Trust. Click any picture to make it bigger:

- Blue Lake Trail/Pioneer, 9/14/03 - We did some terrific rock armoring of the Pioneer near Lang's Crossing, had BONC-sponsored lunch and beer on an overlook over Blue Lake, then improved sections of the outstanding Blue Lake Trail. Thanks to sponsors TONC and Xtreme Outfitters. Click any picture to make it bigger:
