Map of Osborne Hill parcel - View Larger Map |
| Plans are in store for extensive logging of Osborne Hill just outside Empire Mine State Historic Park (see map). As many of you know, this undeveloped area features popular trails and open space that are worthy of preservation. This community knows how important this park is to us. Everyday, residents like you hike, run and ride its trails. Osborne Hill should become part of this state park and preserved. |
Your letters and financial support will be crucial for the effort to preserve Osborne Hill!

Our neighborhood association has been working with community groups to make this 200+ acre property a part of Empire Mine State Historic Park.
This acquisition has been on hold pending the acceptance of the toxic report and clean-up plan (RAW or Remedial Action Work plan) by the California Department of Toxic Substance Control State (DTSC). State Parks needs the parcel to have a clean bill of health.
As members of the community and the neighborhood, the clean-up process is very important to us as well. Limiting airborne and water borne contamination is essential. Our neighborhood will be asked for our response to the clean-up plan once it has been accepted by DTSC. The Rural Quality Coalition is working with our County planning staff to ensure that all agencies and reports are coordinated. Legal council has been retained to represent the neighborhood and community’s interests.
